Kennedy to be Buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Do You Think That This is Shameful to our Fallen Soldiers?

Thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen have given everything to our nation and are buried at Arlington, a most hallowed ground.

Will the corpse of Ted Kennedy ruin the legacy of Arlington and sully the image of our fallen heroes? Where should he really be buried?

jake77 		I don't think the dead will care where TK's corpse is interred. Not all of those "thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen" were perfect gentlemen.

This is not to say that Ted Kennedy isn't a complete disgrace, because he is. But you can't "fight city hall" on stuff like this. He will be honored by those who agreed with his ideology.

jake77 		The sexist pig never served his country in the military and would shame the prestige and honor of our fallen heros. It is ashame that this is going to be allowed! This cemetary is to honor all military and high federal officials only. He never served in a Secretary position or other high federal position. Senetor is an elected position to which does not constitute the burial of honors amongst our fallen heros!

jake77 		Invoking the sacrifice of service members to make a crass political attack against someone (who just died of cancer, no less) is pretty disgraceful.

Further, I question whether Mary Jo Kopechne's family appreciates the repeated cynical invocation of her death by partisans interested in nothing more than scoring a cheap political point.

jake77 		Champion for infanticide and infant slaughter, in the Army only because he was kicked out of Harvard, Ruined education nationwide, spent 40 years trying to take our guns away, had a father who was a nazi sympathizer, stopped possibly one of the greatest judicial minds in our time from the Supreme Court, (Bork), tried to give every illegal alien amnesty, while giving them full government benefits, womanizing adulterer who divorced his first wife,,,, etc, etc.

How does any of this rate being buried at Arlington? The only good thing he did was split Carter's vote in 1980 to help us get Reagan.

What am I forgetting here, must be something, hmmmm,,,,, oh yeah, I've got it, HE LET A WOMAN DROWN.

jake77 		Kennedy is a veteran.

He has the same right to be buried at Arlington as any other veteran.

NOTE: the military didn't have 4 year initial enlistments back in the 50's.

Two years was all draftees served.

jake77 		I have to wonder if we will ever see again a wealthy family dedicate and sacrifice so much for our country. None of the Kennedy children ever had to work a day in their lives, yet they did, and they worked hard for our country, and three of the sons gave up their lives for our country. Most rich young people today are more like Paris Hilton than Bobby Kennedy. It saddens me to see how the ideal of serving your country has become distorted by greed and ugly with corruption.

And right-wingers who wanted us to all respect the service of John McCain--despite his many horrible mistakes that caused deaths--now cannot show respect themselves. Figures.

jake77 		To all of you self-righteous sobs....this man did a wrong thing when he was young (Mary Jo)...he more than made up for it...he was a hard working senator who did a lot of good for this country...he could have easily been a free-wheeling rich idiot but he chose to serve...and as far as being buried in Arlington...I wonder how many of the veterans' {buried there} lives would stand up to the scrutiny you sobs are giving to Senator Kennedy? Come on, get off your frigging high horses...none are without sin, no not one. Rest in peace, Teddy.

jake77 		Do you think when Bush dies that he deserves to buried there? He dodged the military better that Rip Torn did in the movie Dogeball. Most of you who have posted probably weren't even born when the events you seem to quote from Ted Kennedy's life occurred, yet you seem to be an expert at them based on press snippets. That being said, many of you probably have not a clue who/what his father was and why that family has held such prominence in US culture...even before JKF came on the scene. If you knew anything about where the Kennedy money/family came from, you would know why he received "preferential" treatment. At least he served (showed up for duty).

That notwithstanding, 40 years of service to the country whether you like him or not gives in the right and by law to be buried where ever the family wants him to be. Have you served the country in any way? Have you visited Arlington and seen who is really buried there? Do you think everyone buried there is above reproach? It is not just fallen military.

jake77 		Lets look at service record. Teddy joined Uncle Sam and signed up for 4 years, but only wanted to serve for 2 yrs. So, he pleaded to daddy and daddy pulled some strings and got Teddy stationed in Europe rather in Korea (where the war actually was) and pulled him out of the army in 2 years.

Talk about preferential treatment. Plus, he couldn't even make it past the rank of private.

He didn't bring respect to the uniform, but disgrace.

jake77 		An elected person of the U.S. Government (such as a term in Congress) is allowed to be buried there. Whether you like the man or not 40 years of service to his country is 40 of service to his country.

When Sen. Ted Kennedy was merely just another Democrat bloating on Capitol Hill on behalf of liberal causes, it was perhaps excusable to ignore his deplorable past.

But now that he's become a leading Republican attack dog, positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity, the days for such indulgence are now over.

It's time for the GOP to stand up and remind America why this chief spokesman had to abandon his own presidential bid in 1980 - time to say the words "Mary Jo Kopechne" out loud.

As is often the case, Republicans have deluded themselves into thinking that most Americans already know the story of how this "Conscience of the Democratic Party" left Miss Kopechne behind to die in the waters underneath the Edgartown Bridge in July 1969, after a night of drinking and partying with the young blonde campaign worker. But most Americans under 40 have never heard that story, or details of how Kennedy swam to safety, then tried to get his cousin Joe Garghan to say he was behind the wheel.

Those young voters don't know how Miss Kopechne, trapped inside Kennedy's Oldsmobile, gasped for air until she finally died, while the Democrats' leading Iraq war critic rushed back to his compound to formulate the best alibi he could think of.

Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

As they listen to the Democrats' "Liberal Lion" accuse President Bush of "telling lie after lie after lie" to get America to go to war in Iraq, young voters don't know about that notorious 1991 Easter weekend in Palm Beach when Uncle Teddy rounded up his nephews for a night on the town, an evening that ended with one of them credibly accused of rape.

It's time for Republicans to state unabashedly that they will no longer "go along with the gag" when it comes to Uncle Ted's rants about deception and moral turpitude inside the Bush White House.

And if the Republicans don't, let's do it ourselves by passing this forgotten disgrace around the Internet to wake up memories of what a fraud and fake Teddy really is.

The Democratic Party should be ashamed to have the national disgrace from Massachusetts as their spokesman.

jake77 		As proud as I am of our veterans, and to be one, I'm pretty sure that he's not going to be the only one buried there with a less than glorious past.

Is his military record dismal? Certainly, but we don't judge who gets buried there solely by whether there was a war going on when they served, which branch they served in, or how well they did their job, do we?

I think that the worst part is that anyone considers it newsworthy where they bury him.

jake77 		I think that only politicians that honorably served their country should be buried in Arlington. Teddy's brother John did serve and fought in the war,however Teddy did two years of a four year stint. He didn't quit because he was injured,he just didn't like serving in the military. Well,boo hoo,lots of guys don't like particularly like being in the military every day but they do it with honor.

jake77 		It's worse. It's another case of America treating its anointed ones far differently than America treats its soldiers. It is not EQUALITY. It's not "all men are created equal."

Only soldiers who died while in active service can be buried at Arlington. A career soldier retiree, one who served for decades must now wait THREE MONTHS to be interred at Arlington Cemetery. Senator Kennedy is being interred in just a few days, according to what I am reading.
